Terms of Service

1. Acceptance

By signing up for or using Canopy ("the Service"), you agree to these Terms of Service. If you are using the Service on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that organization to these terms.

2. License Grant

Cool Idea Designs grants you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to access and use the Service for your own printer farm monitoring. This license is subject to your compliance with these Terms.

3. License Key — Permitted Use

Your license key is issued to you personally or to your organization. Permitted uses:

  • Running Freki on machines owned or controlled by you or your organization.
  • Monitoring printers located at your own facilities.
  • Sharing access within your own organization (employees, contractors working on your printers) without restriction.

4. Prohibited Use

You may not:

  • Resell or sublicense access to the Service or your license key to any third party in exchange for money or other compensation.
  • Share your license key with individuals outside your organization without prior written permission from Cool Idea Designs. To request permission (e.g., a partner shop, a friend's farm), email support@canopyprint.com — we approve these requests so we can monitor service quality and ensure the experience works well for everyone.
  • Use one license key to monitor printers belonging to multiple unrelated businesses or individuals without our knowledge and approval.
  • Circumvent instance limits, rate limits, or other technical controls.
  • Reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract source code from the Freki agent or any part of the Service.
  • Automate dashboard access using scripts, bots, or AI agents beyond normal interactive use. Automated data extraction, scraping, or replication of dashboard data is strictly prohibited.
  • Use AI models or agents to systematically query or extract printer telemetry, print history, or any other data from the Service at scale.

5. Instance Limits

Each plan includes a maximum number of simultaneous Freki agent instances. Trial plans are limited to 1 instance. Pro plans are limited to 1 instance. Business plans are limited to 3 instances. Enterprise plans are unlimited. Installing Freki on additional machines beyond your plan limit requires upgrading your plan or contacting us for approval.

6. Printer Limits

Each plan includes a maximum number of monitored printers as specified at the time of purchase. Attempting to connect more printers than your plan allows will result in additional printers being rejected until your plan is upgraded.

7. Trial Terms

Free trials are intended for individual evaluation only. One trial per person or organization. Using multiple email addresses to extend a trial, or sharing a trial key with others, violates these Terms and will result in immediate revocation of all associated keys. To enforce one-trial-per-device limits, we track printer hardware identifiers (serial numbers and device IDs). The same physical printer may not be enrolled in more than one trial, regardless of the email address used.

8. Enforcement & Revocation

We monitor usage patterns to detect abuse, including multiple concurrent installations, unusual IP diversity, and printer counts inconsistent with your plan tier. Violations may result in immediate license revocation without notice. If your account is revoked due to a Terms violation, you will receive a refund for the current billing month. We reserve the right to terminate access for any reason at our discretion.

We monitor API usage patterns and call frequency to detect automated or machine-like access. We screen email addresses at signup using domain reputation and alias-detection techniques to prevent fraudulent trial creation.

Our abuse detection is automated and imperfect. If your account is flagged incorrectly — and we know it will happen — we sincerely apologize. Just email support@canopyprint.com and we will reinstate your account promptly, no questions asked.

9. Service & Data

Printer telemetry (status, temperatures, job progress) is transmitted to Canopy servers to power the dashboard. We do not sell this data. We use it solely to operate and improve the Service.

The Service is provided "as-is" without warranties of any kind. We are not liable for missed alerts, printer errors, failed jobs, or any other damages arising from use of or inability to use the Service.

10a. Device Data Collection

We collect printer serial numbers, device identifiers, and telemetry data to enforce plan limits, detect abuse, and operate the Service. This data is not sold or shared with third parties. You may request deletion of your data by contacting support@canopyprint.com. We will respond within 30 days. Deletion may require termination of your account.

10b. Feature Grandfathering

Features available under your subscription tier at the time of your initial paid subscription will remain available to you at no additional charge, even if those features are later moved to a higher tier. New features added after your subscription date are subject to the current tier requirements at the time they are introduced.

10c. Chargebacks & Refunds

Filing a chargeback or payment dispute will result in immediate suspension of your account pending resolution. If you have a billing concern, please contact us first at support@canopyprint.com — we respond promptly and are happy to issue refunds where appropriate.

Refund policy: if you cancel, your access continues through the end of your current billing period — no charges after that. Refunds for billing errors or extenuating circumstances are handled case-by-case; just email us.

10. Changes

We may update these Terms at any time. Continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms. We will notify active subscribers of material changes by email.
